Featured Artist: Ken Bova

April 2, 2008 - April 23, 2008

Active in the arts community, Ken has served on the local, state, and national level including a term as President of the Society of North American Goldsmiths from 2002 to 2006. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is found in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian National Art Museum's Renwick Gallery and the Tacoma Art Museum among others. After nearly 20 years as adjunct professor in jewelry/metals at Montana State University, Ken resigned last year to pursue full time studio work.

Ken describes his process: 'Like a Bower bird I collect odds and ends, bits and pieces - of moments, memory, places, and things - arranging them to illuminate and illustrate the often overlooked. Collage, assemblage, and hand tool fabrication techniques are direct and immediate. They allow me to layer and overlap elements and images or set them side-by-side. In this way I can create new meanings and visual associations or enhance those already there.'
